Grouped by identical specs — lab never compared to natural.
How Facet Wire search works
Every night, Facet Wire pulls live diamond listings from five retailers — Ritani, Blue Nile, With Clarity, Frank Darling and Ada Diamonds — and records each stone's shape, carat, color, clarity, certificate and price. The search above runs over that tracked database: every result is a real stone a retailer is offering right now, at the price we captured. When a stone sells or a listing disappears, it drops out of the next export; when a retailer's price moves, the new price is what you see here.
A cheaper diamond only matters if it is genuinely the same diamond, so Facet Wire builds its comparisons carefully. Listings are lined up against each other only when shape, color and clarity are identical and carat weight is within a tenth of a carat (0.10 ct) — and lab-grown stones are never compared with natural ones. Where a listing carries a certificate number from a lab such as GIA or IGI, we record it: the certificate is the closest thing a diamond has to a fingerprint, and it is how the exact same stone can be spotted sitting in two different stores at two different prices.
Those spreads are the point of the site. Identical specs routinely sit thousands of dollars apart between retailers, so the widest gaps are flagged as Price Gap Alerts on the homepage and tracked in the Market Watch guides. A good way in is by shape: start with lab-grown pear, lab-grown marquise or natural round listings, narrow by carat and budget, and check the compare strip at the top of the results for the same specs priced side by side. Questions about how matching, certificates or pricing work are answered on the FAQ page.
